Gregory Karas
Like most young boys Gregory started drawing cars and motorcycles. But then he found he could draw portraits of people and dogs with relative ease which commanded attention. He began to sell while still in high school. This natural ability craved development. He fulfilled that passion by studying art at Paier College of Arts from which he graduated in 1983.
Gregory's fascination with the outdoors is evident in his work. So as not to intrude, but rather to become one with nature and all of its splendor Gregory will sit for hours motionless in the woods. What he gleans from these encounters he documents onto canvas. That he can do so is an honor to him and all that he gets from time spent outdoors is a testament to his inspirations. He has won numerous awards. Most recently he won 1st place, Best of Show, and People's Choice Award for his latest work "Polled Hereford", a portrait. His paintings are owned by various clients in the Tri-State area.
Gregory's profession is in the prepress industry scanning and color correcting many of the images we see in magazines, ads, and books. He lives in Ansonia with his wife, Priscilla and their two girls Nicolette and Jamie and their pet rabbits and hamsters.
