“This is an incredible opportunity to promote the arts in the Valley and celebrate the giving of oneself to another, unselfishly and without an agenda. Given our current state of affairs it is nice to take some time out and consider the act of giving and what it means to each one of us. We chose the month of November for our event because of the celebration of Thanksgiving and in honor of Veteran’s Day. Our troops give us the ultimate gift, the preservation of our freedom,” says Jill Nichols, VAC Vice-President.

“The purpose of the art show is to raise awareness about philanthropy in the Valley by encouraging individuals to think about what giving means to them and, at the same time, promote the contribution that the arts make in the lives of Valley residents,” said Arlene Greco, Chair, VPC.

The VPC is an association of development professionals representing nine non-profit organizations in the Lower Naugatuck Valley (LNV) including Birmingham Group Health Services, Inc., CT Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs, Inc., Griffin Hospital Development Fund, Shelton Safe Home, TEAM, Inc., United Methodist Homes, Valley Community Foundation, Valley United Way, and Visiting Nurse Association of South Central CT. Formed in 2006, the members put aside “competitive fundraising” to work together to foster the culture of philanthropy in the Lower Naugatuck Valley.
