COMIC ART WORKSHOP

Instructor: Frank McLaughlin

Thursday, September 23rd • 6:30pm
at the Valley Center for the Arts
119 Caroline Street, Derby

Back in the 1970'S, the late Dick Giordano and Artist Frank McLaughlin established "The Comic Art Workshop"... a place where budding cartoonists and comic freaks could go once a week to learn the techniques of comic art from working pros. The response was immediate and overwhelming!

We have good news! As of September 23rd, the worshop is being revived at The Valley Center for the Arts, in downtown Derby. For 10 weeks we will meet for 3 hours each Thursday from 6:30PM TO 9:30PM. Come join us! Class size is limited and is on a first come, first serve basis. Cost is $90.00 for TEN WEEKS, an average of $3.00 per hour! To register call us at: 203.516.0822 (203.516.0VAC) or email us at: info@valleyartscouncil.org

Renovations on the new “Valley Center of the Arts” (formerly the Hotchkiss Hose Co. firehouse on Caroline Street) are completed and the building has undergone its final inspections! We are now officially open for business. Studio spaces are now available for rent and programs are being announced.

The arts council plans to work with the local school's art programs to determine how the VAC can help in the classroom and what courses will be offered at the art center. The building is in close proximity to the VAC's Gallery@37 as well as the stores & restaurants located in the downtown area which is slowly being transformed into an art and cultural center. The art center is also close to highway access, the local bus route and the Metro North train station.
